Beijing Banquet is Edinburgh's newest Chinese banquet hot spot, run by husband and wife team Rui and Susan Lin. Having run the successful Taste of China in Coatbridge since 2007, the couple have now set up shop in Dalkeith. Beijing Banquet opened on Maulsford Avenue on 20 August and is already doing a roaring trade transporting locals to regions from Canton to Sichuan.
Airy and spacious, the air-conditioned interior is fresh and modern; all porcelain floors, stylish lighting and chunky wood, with no red flocked wallpaper nor dusty paper lanterns in sight. With a 200 capacity and 40 car parking spaces booking isn't essential, but might be a good idea given how popular the restaurant has proved so far.
