We are delighted to share with you the Werneth Way of Life.
The school motto, 'Werneth Cares', indicates that we are a learning community committed to achieving high standards in all aspects of school life; indeed our school mission statement is 'learning without limits' .
By working in partnership we intend to build on the substantial progress made in recent years so that every child fulfils his or her potential both in and out of the classroom closely with parents and students.
About Us
The original school buildings came into use in 1941, and several additions and extensions have been added over the years. Specialist provision is available for all subjects. There are extensive playing fields, an all-weather pitch, two gymnasia, a Sports' Hall, good laboratory accommodation, extensive technology workshops, computing facilities, a well-stocked School Library and Resource Centre, Music technology suite, Diploma room, Performing Arts' areas and the Image Theatre. The environment is well-cared for and the grounds and accommodation undergo a planned maintenance programme.
The School Day
School hours are from 8.45am to 3.10pm.
Four hours and fifty five minutes each day are devoted to classroom teaching. Most lessons last for an hour or so and the majority are taken as a mixture of single periods. Lunch is provided in two modern and well-equipped dining ares. Students are issued with a pass to go home for lunch if they live close by, but they must not leave the school premises otherwise.
Punctuality is essential and lateness is punishable by detention unless a reasonable written explanation is given by parents, or in the case of an unavoidable emergency.
